We went after a snow event and knew the water was frozen. It was also a very difficult hike to the bottom and out. The trail was a sheet of ice with six inches of snow. There were two incidents in two days, a broken leg and ankle. Be careful if you are hiking in the winter. I can't wait to go back in the spring and summer. It was spectacular.
Very cool to see when it is frozen. Typically, it is a green trail, about 1 mile hike to the falls and 1 mile back. When it is icy and snow covered it is definitely more difficult. Unfortunately, we saw a lady fall and break her ankle and had to be taken out by an emergency ATV. There isn't any cell service when you're there, so be careful and wear appropriate footwear. Will definitely go back in the Spring to see the water flowing.
Beautiful waterfall. Was amazing to see it frozen. Can’t wait to check it out in the spring as well. If you’re trying to view it frozen, get there early to avoid crowds. WEAR ICE CLEATS on your boots. Several people falling. Several people having to carry their kids that couldn’t walk on the ice. Someone broke their ankle yesterday. Highly recommend ice cleats.
Came in middle of January. 18F. The roads were clear coming here. Have to park in small area by the side of the road. The hike is 2 miles there, in total 4 miles. Hike is Icy in some areas. No bathrooms. Five stars. Truly beautiful.
Easy hike on way down but coming back is a little strenuous on the legs. It is worth going to see the hole. We went on October 19, 2023 when it was dry. Which there was no waterfall but a beautiful site.
There are no restrooms within about twenty miles.
A hiker's dog fell through the hole today. Luckily he didn't seem injured but this fall could easily kill a dog or child who wasn't paying attention. Due to dry conditions it's easy to walk right up on the hole without realizing it, as it's unmarked and smooth rock makes it slippery even when dry. Great hike, just be careful! Be aware of your surroundings!
About 0.75 mile down to the waterfall very steep at some parts took about 30 minutes to walk out. Be prepared for a uphill hike. No trail markers or trail head sign almost missed it. No water running when we were there.
Such a cool place to visit and enjoy nature. Not a long hike and wide trail. It was easy enough that my sister and I took our 4 kids ages 10 to 6 and they didn't have any trouble making it in and out.
